Larry Weaver is an accomplished stand-up comedian and funny singer/songwriter. His Southern charm and humor come honestly. He grew up in the tiny mill village of Saxapahaw, NC (look closely, it's on the map), and started performing at a young age.
After majoring in accounting at the University of North Carolina, Larry left his CPA dreams behind for a career in comedy. He toured across America with his own improvisational comedy group Selected Hilarity, playing hundreds of college campuses and twice garnering nominations for "Comedy Act of the Year" by both NACA and Campus Activities Today magazine.
Larry's solo career took off when legendary radio DJ Dr. Demento started playing his debut EP, Pack Full of Comedy. The hit song, "Grandpa’s Gone Gangsta" captured the attention of concert promoters who booked him on tour with Grammy Award winner "Weird Al" Yankovic. He went on to share the stage with Faith Hill, Ray Romano ("Everybody Loves Raymond"), and Chris Rock - just to name a few.
Larry released two additional CDs of funny songs and commercial parodies. These albums spawned the morning radio hits "State Fair Woman" and "Ghost in the Trailer," a hilarious tale about a family terrorized by a redneck ghost. His web site, TrailerGhost.com, is the only Internet site dedicated to paranormal activities in mobile homes, and Larry is a frequent guest on radio shows explaining this very important work.
His live act is loaded with great music, audience interaction, outrageous characters and, of course, the occasional wig. What would you expect from a guy who once worked as a professional wrestling manager and now spends half his time rooting out spirits in trailer parks?
Larry is definitely a unique comedian, who the Charlotte Observer calls 'a song parodist of high order… a double threat with a joke in one hand and a guitar pick in the other."
“Larry Weaver worked with us during our Running with Scissors tour. He was funny and managed to captivate our audience, which is no easy trick. I wish him all the best. He deserves it!”
–John “Bermuda” Schwartz, “Weird Al” Yankovic band
“We truly enjoyed having Larry Weaver headline our Laugh for Life event. Larry kept the crowd laughing with his hilarious clean comedy and I am still getting positive feedback days later on his performance. Larry was certainly a hit with our group! He was also extremely professional and easy to work with. We would be glad to work with Larry in the future and would recommend him to anyone looking for a comedian.”
– Emily Moore, Hand of Hope (Fuquay-Varina, NC)
“This was my first year working with a professional emcee. It really made my job easier knowing that I didn’t have to worry about the show running smoothly.”
– Sonya Snyder, Town of Cary Parks & Recreation (Cary, NC)
